Meet The Team
Jimmy D. Temple
Born and raised in Charlottesville, VA, Jimmy D. grew up in a Christian home by parents who were engaged in world missions. As he sensed a call to serve in vocational ministry from an early age, God opened many doors for him to proclaim the Word, from youth events across Virginia to missions trips around the world. To develop his desire of sharing the Word of God with people, he enrolled at Liberty University in the Fall of 2015 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies: Theology and Apologetics. He graduated with honors in 2018, alongside Megan, his girlfriend at the time.
During the summer of 2018, he got connected with Hillsboro and served as the Music Minister. Little did he know that initial connection would lead to the church voting him in as the new lead pastor in March 2020. He currently is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, for the purpose of growing deeper in the Word and for learning ministry skills to better serve the church. Though he is blessed with many ministry experiences, his second greatest blessing (after salvation) was marrying Megan in the Fall of 2019. They now reside in Crozet, VA, and are excited for all that God has in store for the church and the community. On a personal note, Jimmy D. enjoys running, rock climbing, playing instruments, and finding good places to eat
Jonathan has been a member of Hillsboro since High School (2008). He attributes his spiritual growth to the teaching of his family as well as faithful men and women at Hillsboro Baptist Church. Jonathan has been gifted with the spiritual gifts of teaching and discipleship and desires to serve the Lord using these gifts. As a child he lived overseas as a military brat and loves learning new languages and cultures. Jonathan graduated from Liberty University in May 2016 with a B.S in Global Studies (aka. Mission Work). While at Liberty, he met his later-to-be-wife, Kelsey. During the Spring semester of his Senior year at Liberty, he studied abroad in Papua New Guinea for his Global Studies internship. Later in 2017, he and Kelsey went to Ethnos360's training center in Roach, MO to study church planting. This was a two year program. Here they studied more about church planting principles and how to help believers grow to maturity in Christ. Jonathan and Kelsey married July 14, 2018 and now have a daughter of their own. The Gilliland family feels called to serve God wherever they are. While in Crozet, they desire to engage the community as part of Hillsboro's outreach efforts, but understand that this is not a one-person job. They seek God's leading for future church planting opportunities either in Virginia or abroad. You can reach me at !
Ministry Support Coordinator
Kevin MacPherson is the Ministry Support Coordinator here at Hillsboro. Kevin works with the youth and young adults to teach them valuable life lessons rooted in the teachings of the Bible as real life experiences. Kevin graduated from Liberty University in 2018 with a BS in Sport Management and also has been coach for the past few years, currently with the Western Albermale track team.
Miss Kathy has a calling to preschool ministry, love for the children, and passion for the preschool staff. She is dedicated to children's ministry through the preschool and strives to make a difference in the lives of the children and preschool families every day. Outside of the preschool, she enjoys spending time with her family, amateur photography, and reading.
Gabriel Kotsch is the media director here at Hillsboro. Anything ranging from the website, to the Facebook page, to other forms of advertisement is where he hopes to help the church grow. Before serving at this current position, Gabriel had the opportunity to be the youth director at Hillsboro before Kevin MacPherson. This enabled him to get close to the church and made him want to still serve the church even though he no longer lives in Virginia. Gabriel currently is working on completing his graduate degree at Southeastern Theological Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He lives there with his wife April, and even though they live hours away from the church, they still love coming back to visit and see their church family back in Virginia.
